My name is Heidi Smith and I have loved teaching Kindergarten at McDonald for 8 years now. Prior to teaching at McDonald, I taught in private schools at the preschool level. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology desiring to become a Marriage and Family Counselor. Being raised with more than one Hillsborough County School teacher in the family, I decided to go into teaching when I became a mother. Counseling would have kept me away from my own children too much. I loved working with children so teaching became my new passion. I have been happily married for 14 years and have two children of my own: Noah (11) and Emily (10). Noah just graduated from McDonald where he spent all of his elementary years. I can't believe he's already
heading to Middle School. Emily still attends McDonald with me and is very excited to be a 5th grader this year.
As I stated, I have been at McDonald for 8 years now and I truly love our school! It has a warm, caring environment where a child can feel safe to learn. As a parent, I have not been disappointed with sending my children to this school. There are so many great things happening around the campus. Please try to get involved with your child this year! We are always looking for parents to help out with PTA!
When I'm not at school I enjoy scrapbooking, stamping, visiting theme parks with my family and being involved in my church. Please take comfort in knowing that I treat my students like I would my own children. I look forward to getting to know you and your child this school year. Together we can help your child succeed in Kindergarten!!!
